Man the first part of the seasons been bad for me , had 7doz. 220s and a hand full of pocket sets in up north - was told that distemper went thru them and when I was up north found out it was'nt just this year but last season to - then back home the beaver numbers are drown due to bad floods spring/summer - did see alot of otter-cat-yote sign -- bait stations were hit every night [fresh beaver] but season just started when I had to come back to work - Question is hows your season? numbers up/down about the same? Hope the rest of the season get better not just mine but everybody thats not doing so good the first part-- WACK EM - STACK EM just don't give in--D- This hurts , but got to say it - bought some of them Dukie 330s and had a chance to set some - man them is some tuff springs -would hate to get a hand in one -only thing I can't figure is why I found a bunch snapped and nothing in them - anybody else have this problem ?-THANKS

started out pretty crappy here too, and to top it off, i have had 4 #3 bridgers that are modified stolen in a week, a couple had i believe coyotes in them, killed it, dug down and cut my pogo's, coon and coyote catch is way off, was running 60 sets to start this year

Higher fur prices traditionally lower the numbers. Population is steady or down here on everything, espescially rats. Miles covered and steel out we should be doung better. We've probably caught half what we should of. As things freeze up we 're putting more canine sets out so hopefully it evens out. Fur seems to be in pockets.

Big drop here in skunks and coons so far the plan is to pull the coon sets and let them rebuild next summer. last year I had around 80 skunks this year I caught 12. Coons not much better 120 last year this time and 41 today. Moving to yotes then badgers after the first of the year.

SOrry to hear about the north line D..
Im actually a little ahead canine wise of where I was last year..hard to believe. Only running three farms so far. I will fall back in line now with fisher season opening in Vt. Catching stops and empty trap checks start, lol.

The coon numbers on my line are very small...... Doesn't look good at the moment! Seems like that in most parts of the country this year!

Sorry to hear D! I wish ya well with the rest of the season!
The red fox population in my area is about the same as it's been last year. The only difference is that they seem to be more concentrated in pockets due the the steady movement of coyotes in the area. Some locations have been completely dead, and others I've been catching more then usual. Definitely having my best season on the K9's!
Coon populations have been really spotty. I believe distemper went through the population in some areas on my line. Sightings of dead coon laying around and lack of coon sign period, suggests that distemper wiped some of the coon population clean in some pockets of the area. Other locations seem to be pretty strong. I'm finding most my coon up high and dry on the wood ridges. I'm ahead of my coon catch that I had last year by a few, but not alot.
The mink population seems to be at an all time low! I don't even understand what the heck happened to them! I haven't seen any while fishing during the spring and summer like I usually do, the lack of sign I'm seeing during trapping season is abundant, and locations that I was catching them at last year, are all but dead. Frustrating!

Mini- the only place I was catching coon was in timber , only a couple caught near water , looks like the cat and yote numbers along with otter are up[south]so I hope my season gets better- like I said the year long floods really put the hurt to the beaver population on the flood plains but still have a over population away from the river - still 2 places I have to trap beaver and would really rather be trapping cats-D-

Snaring large draw stations and trapping active badger holes looks like my plan in the near future, I pulled most of my cages just in time!

Ended my week of "just coon" with a very sour taste in my mouth..... Lol Am sure I'll pick up more as season goes on cause I won't pass up setting on sign of any fur. However, I seriously doubt ill reach my coon number goal! Started settin my K9 line today and seen a dog sled team going cross country----- man it's cold here!!!

1 - rat (low water killed beaver and rat numbers) 1 - yote 16 - coon 4 - of the biggest possum ive ever landed.
Totals are way way down. Coon were caught by the lake, late in the season. Parvo knocked the crap out of them this year, coupled with a trespassing trapper that caught who knows how many on my ground. numbers got hurt.

One big bait is getting hammered (calf) the rest are still slow (deer) I did pick up a huge yote off the calf today, it was red with weak neck fur but he was a biggen.

Coon and rats are uncommon here this year. Yotes and foxes are doing ok. Moved an hour east and landed smack dab in K9 and mink heaven. Still cant catch sn otter and theres been no fresh sign in 3 weeks. We have a limit of 5 and id be happy with one. Badger are plentiful but all are flats and aint binging offers over $10 S&D. Interestingly enough most of the coons are and have been caught high and dry. Fende row K9 sets and coon cubbies etc.

****END OF THE LINE (coon,possum,cat,k9,otter)*****
Well it has to happen at one point or another, and its here for me. finished on coon and possum unless we have a warm spell in the near future. Waiting out hope on some new ground for rat and rugs. Finishing numbers... Coon-18 possum-6 rat-1 rugs-0 cats-0 k9-1 otter-0 After a 20 year trapin hiatus, havin the first half of my season cut on account of putting meat not fur in the freezer... Im not real happy with the numbers but im satisfied. A bad day afield is worth any day at the house.

Well over 100 canines, 80-100 coon Im guessing. A good run of Vt beaver and otter.

At least it wasn't to bad -- 10 short on the beaver count -- yotes were off -15 and the nice thing the cat population is up ... first year I did not catch a red and only 1 gray -- still trying to figure were the rats came from , I am real lucky to catch a couple every year and this year the count was 6 .. dang love to see them come back-D-
