Fished 4 days of my last week off, couldn't find a halibut for nothing. Went out today and had a good start to the season, lost a nice one at the side of the boat, missed some good strikes and brought home a few for the freezer. Hopefully the weather will hold and I can repeat this about a half dozen times.

Yah, i'm battered and beaten today. Took a flying dive at one that parted the leader, rocked around all day in the wake of the never ending stream of whale watching charters, getting hard for an old fat guy, one who has had 4 spinal surgeries to boot. Going to have to hang up the hat at some point.

Going back to work today for a week. Grand total for the week was 9 total for 4 days fishing. Not too good considering the time spent on the water. Made a hail mary attempt yesterday, got lines in the water at around 0615, fished till 1400. Caught 2 in fifteen minutes after 4 hours of bumping the bottom. The fog rolled in so thick we completely lost our bearings at anchor, only had an idea of where we were at from hearing the waves wash the rock we were anchored off of. At one point, we heard what sounded like an airplane, jetboat, we weren't sure what. On the way back we had to find the beach opposite of us and follow it back to the ramp. There was a helicopter that had to put down in a pullout on the road. Must have been a white knuckle landing for him. Hate the fog.
