With everyone becoming a "coyote trapper" this season, I can not help but think the market on them will drop just like it did on the coon. Oh it may not bottom out due to the catch number but the average price will be down IMO. I understand that a million yotes won't get sold at NAFA next year like the million coon they say they sold this year; however, to keep things in perspective, I bet the yote offering will be more this year than any of last few....and the ave price will be down overall. Just my thoughts.....
I only need to catch one Sasquatch to set the market!

Yotes are a little different then coons to catch so I can see an increase but if a guy specializes in water trapping I figure he will struggle starting out on yotes like we all did so it won't be easy for the unprepared.
Lucky I have always been a multispecies trapper and in years like this I hope it will payoff some!

Never have just trapped for just 1 or 2 species in a season .. start the season as I see the fur turn -beaver,otter,coons but the cats and yotes it's late and then burning both ends of the candle -D-

Will not matter to me I will still take my share of these ugly Eastern Coyotes. But like Jerry I am a multi species guy if they are running around on my lines I will try to catch them. I do appreciate a good price but if its not there I will still set for them.

I'd rather skin three muskrats then a coyote if I were after money. Including time to set and check, I'd get three dozen rats to each coyote. When I trap critters for fun instead of money I'll trap beaver. Labor of love for me. Nice hair and they don't smell like you pee'd on your socks last week, but kept wearing em anyway.

I think the nice coyotes will do just fine. The issue I see would be people in areas like me thinking their $5 rubbed hair-coyotes are the same animal as the western #1 pales. And they are NOT. No amount of shampooing or fluffing or combing or fabric softener will change that either.
I skinned/sent only 10% of my coyotes this year. And no sale yet. Hip hip, hoorayyyyyy!

There may be an increase, not sure. First time coyote trappers can get discouraged easily after weeks/months of trapping for coyotes and just a few or none to show for it. Coyotes allow few if any mistakes and a lot of gas, money and (TIME) will need to be spent to learn about old Wiley E.
