Making up a few tonight.. stopped by home depot for 1/4" x 1 1/2" fender washers.. all they had was 1" & 1 1/4" so I opted for the 1/4 x 1 1/4" box of 100 I still have 2 doz of the 1.5" from last yr and will use these in looser soil.. not much sandy stuff around me So 1.25 should work just fine

May need a new driver this yr.. made one last yr from 1/2" stainless
What I don't like on occassion is debris gets wedged between washer and driver while driving stake.
I might try making slot a bit bigger give dirt a place to go

I would but come november I'm usually driving rebar into frozen gnd. Or atleast semi frozen
The pogos work for me before ground stiffens up..
I have actually considered the 2" washers as a anchor in water for drowners. Carrying those in (if they work) would save me a lot of work

The ground here is way to hard for the Pogos I'd need a Doz drivers for every dozen pogo set up's, It was so bad last year I beat my Fang driver into a snake look alike cat trapping pogos would never start.

So I usually have sign and beds located with pogo anchor in and ready for a quick link. Anyrhing after that is 1/2" rebar driven with axe.

I've never tried wolf fangs, but I like the looks of them. Most every soil I've trapped in so far required decently heavy anchors. I tried pogos and berkshires, and I'll never go back to them. They were so frustrating in my conditions. They have their place, I'm sure. My favorites are duckbills and super stakes, but I tend to destroy the factory duckbill drivers pretty fast, so I usually make my own.

I have some heavy duty earth anchors made from 3/8" black pipe with a nut welded to them. Can't recall where I got em. Each end is cut at 45º angle and probably 2" long.
I need to make a driver for those. Probably have 2 doz. But have not used them

Once you load a wolf fang on a driver it all makes sense in the strength that is working for you there, many pastures here have never been plowed so they are not forgiving in any way. I have gone to about 90% wolf fangs they just work for me.

I have one several occassions drove a 1/2" rod then drove a pogo down that hole.. seems redundant but I had one T Handle 1/2" stake with me and needed to move sets and a pilot hole worked at that time for me

Kinda reminds me of a crew of clients during one january goose season here in michigan.
I used my 1/2 dewalt hammer drill and a 1/2"x20" carbide drill bit for concrete and drill all the holes for decoys and stakes.
The stake system we designed. And was essential
It allowed our shell decoys to dip, bob, rotate showing a lot of motion
We were killing birds when others weren't and was well over booked
May just try that this year. What I need to make is a good stake puller

The bulldog stake puller works pretty good for me, although after the ground freezes my 4 wheel drive Chevrolet Silverado trapping truck worked best. I've had some super stakes in frozen ground that made the truck grunt to pull them out.

What usually works for me is with my axe I hit them once drive them down to "break" the hold then I can usually pry them up.. a puller would work much better.
I'm an electrician so I thought I might bend one up from thickwall conduit. And attach jaws for grabbing quick link or stake nut

I cut the cable and walk away because pulling stakes will take my back out in no time, I will let the .50 go and save my back. Pulling on a badger snare with a badger at the other end and pulling stakes are a few things that make my eyes water! LOL

I agree with Jerry. My back needs all the help it can get. Don't pull them just cut the cable and go.

Anything I drive in after ground is frozen is going to take a pair of good bolt cutters... I more interested in recovering my rebar stakes than I am my cable stakes.. but if I have a chance to pull them I will.. cut them bare minimum

Tried bout every stake on the market - spent a bunch of money and the only stake that WORKS in red clay/gravel and rock clear cut ground is a Wolf Fang and a dang good driver -D-

Speaking of the Wolf Fangs please remember Wolf Creek is the originator of them. There are several knockoffs on the market now.
