Hi all, I just got back from Maine where I trapped my first bear. Caught it on the last morning I was going to be up there. What a blast!

Congratulations on getting your bear. I can't imagine walking up to a set with one of those big boys in it.

I stayed in New Portland. I caught the bear about 20 miles south of the Canadian border.

Ohio, if you want I can PM you my email and you can send the pics to me and I can post them. Would be neat to see, haven't seen any bear trapping pictures in many years.

Sounds good. A cell phone number would be better.

A big congrats on your bear!! That's something I've always dreamed of doing, but I didn't think it was legal these days. Then there's still hope. Congrats again!
Imagine trying to release one. And I thought dog otters were a problem.LOL

I'll have to check that out, thank you. The closest I've come to bear trapping was having one steal the bait out of one of my fisher/bobcat cubbies every couple days and leaving some fur in the sprung trap each time. I ended up pulling the trap. I figured if I caught something in it, the bear would probably eat it before I got there, anyway.
