Hello,
What are your favorite baits, lures, or attractants for Coyote, Bobcat, Grey Fox, Raccoon, Opossum, Skunk, & Badger? I know three, 9 - 10 year-old boys who want to learn to trap so I'm trying to collect baits & lures for them whether they be commercial baits, things you can buy at the grocery store, or just home-made bait recipes. 2 of these boys live in the country on the Tough - River Ranch near Guthrie Texas, so their in ranch country.
Thanks everybody,
AuthorTrapper.

Bacon grease is probably the best and most readily available thing I think you could get them. Everything likes bacon grease.

Jack Mackeral. Easy to find at the Dollar, and cheap. Besides, if you get cold and hungry, you can eat your bait too.

Lawdog lures and he is a moderator on this site so he is easy to find. O'Gorman's LDC is a another good change up lure and these will work with all of the critters you asked about,, except the grinners and it might work with them I just don't know because I have never trapped them. I make my own bait, but O'Gorman's powder river paste is a good bait.

LDC is a really good cold weather lure, and works sometimes with M-44s. But I got some of Lawdogs lures for M-44s. I have already done some testing putting his lure on grub stakes and it looks very promising.

Yep, I use his lures year round. His fox lure will out perform most others, even in hot weather.

I have already done some testing putting his lure on grub stakes and it looks very promising. What are M-44's? M-44s are a spring powered actuator that eject poison into the mouth of a coyote when it bites and pulls on the lure end of the M-44. M-44s are very effective when you need to set in the same pasture that livestock are grazing in, as M-44s are species selective to a point (When set correctly). Laymen terms, When you have to get a coyote that is killing sheep and you can't set a trap or a snare for fear of snaring or trapping the sheep, The M-44 can be set to get the coyote. M-44s are heavily restricted and take training, testing and a license, plus visits from the department of agriculture to make sure you are up to code with everything. There is a lot more to setting them and the paper work but that is a brief run down. It might seem like a lot of work and headache to get coyotes,, but when a sheep rancher is loosing 6 to 8 sheep a night it is worth it.
