Hi, heres my story: i learned some from my grandpa but mostly from trapping webistes. my grandpa had trapped for about 20 years and he would tell me about how he used to wake up early every morning and go check his trap line. this was really the only way he got money. he said his best season was when he was about 20 or so and he caught around 250 red fox. he was getting around $150 each for. he got many greys that went for around $80 . theres not to many greys now here in ohio. I have learn so much from these websites like this one on how to catch a lot of different furbearers. how did you guys and girls learn how to trap?

still learnin, but this is how i got started.
Two years ago, i got started tryin to raise some rabbit beagals, and i wanted to catch a live rabbit to let them play with and them chase. well after a long time o no luck with that, and coons cleanin out the corn in my deer feader, i decided to try and trap some coons. so i called my grandpa, and asked for him to bring a few of his old cage traps over (used to trap coons and possums and skunks by his wifes chicken coops) so he brought them over, and i set them with some corn. if i remember right, it was about a week after i had set some. My cousin and i got on the 4wheeler and headed up there to check it. it was warm in november and we were out in shorts and t-shirts. we drove up there, and i still remember how that coon was settin when we drove up. and i can tell you exactally where it was at too. and we got him home and an hour and a half we had him skinned. and thats what got me hooked.
thats how it all started. lol

One day I saw a gopher mound and remembered we had some #1 victor longs in the shed, I got ahold of those traps and fell in love with trapping, only caught a rabbit foot (was going for small game only), then, the next year I got into furbearers, I read books, and asked some people on it. Then started watching videos on youtube. And read magazines. Then I watched some demos, then went to tman, now im here. But one thing that helped me was trapping education, that taught me a lot.

this is how i got started, my dad knew a pretty good trapper, and when i was about ten, dads friend invited me and my bros and sises to come for a trappers training day, so i went there and learned how to make a dirthole set and some blind sets, that kinda peeked my intest in the whole trapping thing and when the season came dad took me and my bros out and we set a water line but, the next day they were flooded real bad due to rain. that ended m hopes and i didnt want to set any more traps. then my bro decided he was gonna set some traps i said go ahead im gonna stay home, but the next morning my bro caught a coon, so then i decided i was gonna set traps i traped hard with my 3 traps all season and finaly got a nice big boar coon at the end of the season i was pumped! thats how i got started./
