got some traps from a trade today.they have been dyed and waxed.wax seems to be in good shape but they seem dusty and im just not sure how clean they are.what should i do?just spray them down?boil and rewax?any advice would be appreciated,thanks

I'd re-do them if they're for canines. Who knows what scents might be on them. If they're just coon traps I wouldn't bother.

I would also just re-do them. I think its kinda fun so any chance I get to do some trap prep I do it.

How would i remove the old wax?boil them? i will be using them on coon sometimes but mostly on fox

Yeah boil them, then dump the wax off or let it cool and lift out the wax. You dont want to pull the traps through the hot wax that will float to the top of the water you boil them in.

I like to boil mine in any cheap unsented dishwashing powder alot safer than lye or saniflush it seems like when i start doing things every kid in town shows up
