I don't know what your weather is like, but round her they spend all thier time on the forrest floor when it gets cold. ours also follow established trails. hunt them like rabbits, or find a 4 wheeler trail and still hunt it like moose or deer, I prefer a 22 over shot gun cause you can pop them out to 70 yards or so. find some pine cones, 'shrooms or what ever they eat round there and put a little pile out behuint your house if you don't have the chance to get out much and take them as you have the chance.
BTW, what do you do with your squirrel hides? I would be willing to buy them or trade you a tanning job on some furs for them. I can do fairily good quality tans

right now all the squirrels with be on the ground bc all the nuts drop off the trees and thats there main food. also if you have corn fields there will be a lot out in the fields looking for corn .
