K, so here is my pickle, I have a 20 GA shot gun with a modified barrel, and a 32/30 (32 winchester special) and I can us a 30-06, which would be better for coyotes and fox? The 32/30 has deer rounds and I think I can get accelerators for it, same with the -06 our moose round for the -06 are the 180 and 220 grain core lokt bullets, I was thinking using accelerators in the 32 because I am the most accurate with it, but are they accurate? I am assuming the deer rounds would blow the whole side of a coyote out when I shot it but what do you guys think? with the moose I shot last year (same rounds) there was about a 3 inch hole in it, and I am assuming the coyote has a lot more fragile skin.... also, what caliber bullets are 00, 1,2,3, and 4 buckshot??
So, whats your guys opinion? I certainly don't have enough money for a 223 or 22-250 or something like that.

The 17 HMRS is a smooth shootin rifle, great bullet speed, light to carry, amo is cheap enough BUT! It's a pain in the butt to clean. I switched to a Ruger 22mag with a Leapold 3x9x40 scope and it's a winner every time. Also makes a great crow gun at 200 yards.
UPDATE: I have since changed my mind about the 22mag rifle. Took it to the range and shot 50 rounds, of which 12 rounds failed to hit within the center ring. The 17HMR how ever hit 50 out of 50 in the dead center bulls eye. I'll take a better accuracy over a longer cleaning time any day.

are you talkin about shooting ALOT of coyotes? or just random ones you see running around. what are you gonna do with yotes? put them up? all those guns will kill yotes. if i had to pick a RIFLE that i would hunt ALOT of yotes with, i would go with a .223 or a 22-250 bolt action. flat shooting. highly accurate, cheap ammo, light to carry.

I shoot the occasional yote with my deer rifle and deer loads, 270 win. The heavier built bullets tend not to do much damage on a yote. They just kinda zip through without much expansion. I have no experience with fox, other than in a trap. Shoot what you can accurately, but all your options will anchor a yote.

I should also note. At close range, those heavy deer rounds act similar to a varmit type bullet.

Well last I heard accelerators were not made anymore, just what I heard. I would go with the 30-06, You can find bullets everywhere and alot of them. The 20 gauge is alright, but they will have to be very close, I am talking 20/30 yards max, and You will need to hit in the neck/head area. I shoot a 220 swift and for a shotgun the 10 gauge.

I use my AR and shoot the military load 556 or 223 steel case (30 cents a bullet vs $1 for brass case) in it good quick accurate and carries 30 rounds in a magazine
