javery - i personally use the necker 600 right now. THere are a lot of good knives on the market. My suggestion is to see which one fits your hands the best. I think there is some really good information in the equipment review section of the forum that you could refer to as well!
As far as traps, well that depends on the season and specie i am after. When i am land trapping coyotes and fox, i could have around 90 - 100 sets out at a time. When i am land trapping coon, i could have 150 - 175 out. When it comes to water trapping coon, i could have around 250 - 275 sets out. When i am trapping spring beaver, i could have as many as 150 out at a time. These numbers would be if i were to set all the traps for that given season and specie. I will have a lot better count after i dye or paint them all this season.

Joe I have more traps then I can set for the reason if one needs work or replacing on the line it is easier to plunk in a new trap and pull the broken/rusty/dirty ones! I try to keep extra live traps in the truck and rotate them with the ones that need repairs rather then fix them in the field! the idea is to keep moving and fix stuff in the summer when you can and not during season when time is in short supply! IMO I use an 30 year old Necker 700 on most things and a cheap flesher on rats!

javery-get a good fleshin knife, BUY A GOOD ONE, dont know what kind I have its 40yrs old and I have CRS,a cheap rat flesher[rats flesh easy]but if you want to save a bunch of time, invest in a grizz getter-its great for peeling that grizzel off the necks of old boar coons-fleshin down otter-and fleshin the center of beav. then use your fleshin knife-Just my thoughts

I use the Steel Rose. Did use a necker 600 but it has a crappy edge, factory seems to be hit and miss on this, and is a pita to get right.

I put up some coon last year with one of those cheap fleshing knives. NEVER AGAIN! I did wind up getting the fat and gristle off but its definitely not the tool for the job. I am planning on getting a Necker 600 at the NTA Convention.
