I am looking for information on how to get started buying and selling stocks. Is it possible to buy a few cheap stocks on an online site such as etrade or scottrade? I'm not talking about putting hundreds or thousands of dollars into it. I am just wanting to buy 2-3 $20 stocks to become familiar with how it all works. Do they have stocks for that cheap?
Any information on things like this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

A penny stock is generally under $5.00 Yes they have Internet sites to do it. You listed two of them. I don't know about e-trade, but Scottrade will let you open an account for $500.00 minimum. Also, Scottrade requires you to use their broker for stocks under $5.00. The broker will cost you about $20.00 per transaction. TDameritrade is another that lets you trade penny stocks without the broker but I think their minimum account to start up is about $2500.00. There are games on the Internet you can play for free until you get the idea. David
