Who else is pinning the rear legs on the back of board on coon/mink?
It really opens up the window for the grader which if your sending your furs up to the big auctions or bringing in large loads of fur into your furbuyer means they can grade the pelt quicker. Quicker in this case can mean they won't nitpick the hide as much allowing you to sneak some imperfections past the grader.

You make some valid points. I have pinned the legs back and pletted the skirt too, however, I personally like the legs on the belly with a straight skirt. Reminds me of the mink the old trappers( that helped me) put up. I suppose those memories are worth more.

I decided I would pin the the hind feet with the back on the mink...but not coon. Simply put, there isn't enough room on the back of the stretcher to pin the hind legs of the coon up with the back!
I just square up the skirt real nice, and cut a inspection window on the belly side for coon!

There is plenty of room to put the legs in the back especially when trying to get an extra half inch on the board.

I can see what you're saying as far as giving an easier view to the window....
but wouldn't anything gained by that be countered by not having a solid mark to grade length from?
Just thinking out loud.

The fur line on the back is straight. Some of the smaller coon you cant do this because you would the legs would look funny.

I personallydon't think you are gaining anything from it. By pulling the legs back, you are revealing a lot of the flank of theanimal, rather than just the strip along the back of the coon. If you are being told that your buyer needs a better look and can't tell with your inspections window, well than i would just start making thema bit bigger when you cut them.
