in my previouse experiance get the bone the rest of the way out if its not already and safty pin the tail to the fox MAKE SURE TO TELL YOUR FURBUYER!! WHAT HAPPENED WITH FURBUYERS HONESTY IS THE BEST THING IF YOU DONT TELL THEM and they find out on there won your buyer will never be trustworthy of you again i always tell my buyers about rips fur taers tails tore it may drop the price a little bit but they will be happy with the honesty and you will be trusted wont affect price to much.

Well, if the complete tail ripped from the hide alltogether, my best advice would be to simply sew it back on! This will work a whole lot better then safty pinning it? If the tail bone is still stuck inside the tail, then just use your knife and skin the tail bone out! It will take a little more time, but it can be done easily Good Luck

IMO.....forget the safety pin.
Sew it. Tails are probably the best way to start.
Not a professional sewer.....but I did have a buyer take me behind the counter and show me how he wants me to sew.
Said good put up.....with a decent sewing job.....and he's happy.
What do you think fur buyers do with shot carcass coyotes?

vatrapper if you put up several fox a year i would just leave the tail on the carcass and keep on trucking buddy!! I have ripped tails off coon, coyotes, fox and many other critters in my time and never thought about trying to put it back on. A randome tail missing here and there they will over look and pay you normally for that pelt. Now if all your animals come in without tails, then you will see a decduction in your fur check. Even the most experienced fur handlers will have those pelts without tails!!
Here is my next question: What would you do if you trapped the animal and he only had a half of a tail??
