Just wanted to share a simple easy mod to turn that pull only trigger on a Duke DP into a push or pull trigger. The first pic is of the only tools that are needed. Just a pair of channel locks and a couple of files.

All you really need to do is to turn the top of the trigger (the part just above the notch) about 30 degrees to the side, and then file a notch in the side of the dog.

This is a pic of a set trap after the mod. The modification is completely free, only takes about 5 minutes to do and provides a reliable 2 way trigger on one of the least expensive DP traps on the market.

Your welcome Frank. One thing I should probably add: When you bend the part above the notch be careful not to allow it to bend upward, and it tends to want to bend that way. If you allow it to bend up much it gets too hairy. I think you will like these duke traps after this modification. They seem to be pretty well built and even though Ive heard storries about an occasional pull outs, I cant imagine that happening as long as you stay away from intanglement situations. Good luck.

1 big thing i have learned with the push pull style triggers is this....
dont fill your trap above the trigger with bait..because when the coon applies pressure to the top of the bait trying to grab a fist full it could cause your trap to fire giving you a very poor toe hold on the coon..and toes in these traps are a lost ctach....

X2 Walkercoonhunter just hit one of the biggest tips there when using push pull triggers in my opinion. It sure doesnt take very much bait when you have the trigger going both ways.

I guess my learning curve came from the opposite angle. After using small amounts of bait and occasionally getting robbed I learned that I wanted a trigger that goes off when a coon pushes it down.... I have no way of knowing for sure, but I would bet that 90%+ of coons caught in 2 way triggers set the trap off by pushing it down..... JMO
