Do you guys remove the springs before welding the baseplate and on the end of the jaws?
I'm going to make my baseplates and I am wondering if the welding will weaken the springs?

Base plating is just part of the trap mods I do so I dismantle the entire trap making it a lot easier to attach clamps and what not. On the other hand if you're just tack welding and not running long beads of weld the springs should be fine.

I agree with wormbobsky. Dont get the springs to hot. Its easy to take the springs off so you may as well do it. Just to be safe.

I pop them off when I did mine. Seconds to put them back on.
