Talk about numbers down ,, ouch thought trapping was bad -- Not even half of my fur was sold at NAFA , What was sold I think I did good on ,, made enough to cover the gas and a couple dozen new traps , hope the second sale goes better then the last .. my good cats and later fur is on it ,, anybody sell 75% ?? and how do you think your fur sold? -D-

Reds sold..Less than half the coon I sent sold, they held the better ones.
Beaver I thought went terrible...they held some, but to me, 3xl beaver in the high twenty to low thirty range isnt good. My best were in the fifty range, but they were few and far in between.
Coyotes in February were a surprise but the easterns came back to earth in May.

Bringing my wife back from the Doctor the other day about 4 in the afternoon. About a half grown mink hopped across in front of me. Maybe a 1/4 mile from the house.

dtrapper, i use some of the duke 330s. but only on dam spillways with the trigger in t and half half the trap is under water with a dive stick.or i use them in channels. their not as tall as some of the more expensive 330s.they need to be tuned also to take out the trigger creep. i use duke 330s in channels more than anything. they will try and climb over them so make them go thru it.

Dookie, i was selling the fire out of coon meat until they had a story on the evening news about coons testing positive for distemper down here. have not sold the first one since.. was getting $10 a piece if they only bought a couple or $5 a piece if they bought 20 or more at a time. i have not seen a distempered coon myself. beaver, otter, cats and skunks have been my targets this year. its hard to beat a tanned skunk, sooo beautiful.

Well my beaver numbers were about the same -- more rats this year [6] don't even see but 2-4 in a year down here lol- trapped some overpopulated coons off 1 place [12] all on Diablo's -- pulled the cat line early ended up with 4 , with them prices decided they needed to reproduce till it gets better .. set a couple otter sets and got lucky not to catch any -- already planning next year , headed up north ,, my deer huntin buddy since "74" said he was going and after losein a lung to cancer figured I needed to go up there and spend some time settin in a blind with him -- look out coons DPs are fixin to put the hurt on ya .. -D- will post the numbers when I get a good count

This thread started in 2013.Even with me having had a heart attack in June of 2014 I still had a good fur harvest, considering.I couldn't walk up the step creek/ditch banks so I stuck to dryland trapping. It was not my best year, shortness of breath and chest pain slowed me down alot but I still trapped a little over a hundred coyotes with a handful of red fox tossed in.I trapped out of my truck,I never walked over 20 feet from the truck to check/set a trap.I averaged a little over $51.00 a coyote as I trapped them a little earlier than I might normally. My wife,Lucy, drove me on my line for two checks as I was not up to driving those two days. She"instructed" me on several catch remakes that produced canines, coyotes,on those days. She's as good a canine trapper as I have ever seen including John Graham,Gary Jepson and James Halseth. She has a natural "touch" to her sets.I can't describe it in words you just have to look at it/see it to understand. See a lot of people fixin to start slingin steel , noticed over the years sometime it's best to wait a week or so before settin - dang blue and hairy hides bring not enough to pay the gas for the truck , even at my age love settin but going to play the waitin game this year, still got coons/beaver and little bit of mixed fur settin up north not sold -Y" all remember be safe busted butts and half froze in ice water sure the heck ain't worth the price of a hide -just sayin-D-

Still dabbling here... But with literally half an effort I managed about 115 canines. 30 or so coon..i dont know really. Everything is still in the freezer and I didnt keep track of the coons anyway.
This was the year of the water pig for me and the boy. A good run early in Vermont, a return to pennsylvania into spots I hadnt been in in 4 years and a permit for NJ put me at about 55 beavs so far.
Got my PA cat in two nights which was fun after 3 or 4 years away from it. AN otter in Vt., one in Jersey and a short Pa. season to go for them. Considering the time and effort I put in this year was sorta half hearted, im real happy
