To all you guys that put up your own fur my hats of to y'all . I had a man teach me how to flesh out and bored a beaver my son caught today. He could have fleshed out 10 in the time it took me to do one. I guess I need to get one I don't care about cutting and see what I can get away with fleshing. I told him man you make that look to easy he smiled and said it wasn't this easy for me back in 1974

That's right, it definitely takes practice. The more you do the better you get. I remember my first attempts at fleshing coons, that necker fleshing knife was pretty sharp , and your fur prices reflect your fur handling skills.

That is how old man Carmel made me do it and it worked. I can now flesh any animal rather quickly with out damage. Still screw up one every now and then thats part of it.......i don't care how long you been doing it you will still f-up one LOL.

Once the pods are removed the bomb is defused then skinning is like anything else, just cut with the tip of the knife Up and Away from the pods. LOL The reason I say skunk hides is they are tougher and more coon like to work with I'm not setting you up to stink buddy!
