Tweed, did you weigh the coon in your avatar? I assume It's a boar, though the biggest coon I've ever caught here in NY was a sow. She was a big girl, but she wasn't that big. No, i didnt weigh it. Was my 2nd catch ever. Just staryed trapping 2017. Thing weighed more than a cinder block thats for sure. The tail was longer than the stretcher. It was all fat though... The carcus was the size of your average coon. Threw that fat in my stove and tought it was going to explode.

Got 14 3Ns PIT panned today for yote season, still recovering from selling 30 MJs to my Hoot friend years back! LOL The plan is to use them on the loose badger mounds and save the MJs for flat sets and such. Will use them for cats later in the season too.

Sounds like you got a lot done Law Dog. I played baseball with the grandkids today. They wore me out, but It's a lot of fun and good exercise. You just have to watch out for the line drives.

I dye just before the season with the skunk smells in my sheds it would be pointless to try to keep them odorless! LOL Plus I dye for other trappers with my big barrel (55) I do mine first then theirs last.

Igot my MN Trapline catalog today.
They got a visual lure thats a crawdad that you clip to the pan.I'd think the coon would flip the trap trying to get it. Anyone ever try somethung like this.
Anyone ordering any new products this year?

I tried them years ago and caught a couple coon with them. I tried aluminum foil on the trap pan too, with limited success. I don't remember if I had any flipped traps, it was a long time ago.
I ordered an ounce of silver vine powder from MTP to experiment with. I need a new pair of waders, but poor boy that I am right now, they're gonna have to wait.

MTP Canine Force and silver vine are my new products to try, lure prices jump up this year so I loaded up on some K-9 call for a while.

Thanks for the reminder about silver vine, I ordered some powder to play around with. I'm curious to see what response I get between that and catnip in cat gland lure. The prices of everything keep going up. Seems like it costs me $50 every time I drive into town.LOL

Tweed, I meant to ask what trap you caught that coon in. My eyes aren't the best and it looks like you may be holding it up in a body grip, but I can't tell.
I'm curious where you're located too, that grows coons that big.

You can smell my lure shed when you make the turn onto our road, when the wind is right.LOL

I took him along an abandonded RR corridor. Last year was my first year. This guy was my 2nd catch. Only caught a total of 12 last year. Didnt realize how sensitive they are to weather. Bad prices so i kept and tanned them all.

Well I got most of my traps done and ready, pulled all those shock springs off. Might need them for a screen door sometime. Still have the traps I used all year long to dip and about 200 snares left to build. Bait and lure is done cooking, just need to put an order in to Lawdog for some lure. Running late on my waxed dirt but I plan on hammering that out in a few days. The war department is forcing me to go to Las Vegas the first week of Nov. for 4 days because she is running in a marathon. I put up a good fight but I am still going. lol

Have found 2 huge dens on property I trap on. Looking to set some 330 in den mouths. ( no Domestic animals near). Then maybe some no 3 around the area. Am doing control work on this property. so not looking for fur, just getting rid of the bad guys. Any thoughts on using 330 in den mouths? Advice appreciated.

330s out of water have restrictions on land in most places might try snares in the trails around the dens or under fences nearby!

Phone ringing early today 2 skunks for me caught in cages (2 different people) I had a call last night neighbor had one in the window well it dug a hole under the well wall so I set a cage for when it comes out, cage was closed today so I reset it! 4 foot drop makes the work harder. One was a big one the other smaller then average but out average is big here.

Going after the cats and coyotes harder this year. Hope to at least double my total caught. This might sound like a big goal, but since I have only caught one of each I think it can be done. Been studying hard on the off season. Can start setting tomorrow and as of about an hour ago I think I have got everything ready to go.
