Well Mini I drive a F250 Super Duty Ford big V 8 that I haul and tow wood with so I limit my checks to everyother day, check one day put fur up the next! Works on the part time trapper thing I do now. But for you buddy I'm thinking a nice Schwinn trike with a Barbie basket in the front, streemers in the handle grips and neat bell you push with your thumb!!!! Great mileage and the fox could go in the big shiny basket it comes with and you can park anywhere you want!! LMAO Sorry Mini could not help myself, Really!!! I would like a Jap Kei truck some day but need to do more looking into them 1st!

The smallest 4 wheel drive truck you can find that gets the best gas mileage would be the ideal in my eyes! I personally drive a F-150 crew cab. I like the truck for my overall uses, but for trapping, it sucks a little gas, but the comfort is there when i make my trips to the dakotas.
I would take law dogs advice and grab a schwin and add a couple accessories and get to making sets!! I think training wheels would be a great investment when you need to do mach 4 around those corners going from set to set LOL!

This machine I was given years ago by my brother. She was a wreck. Nary a floorboard in her, motor oil literally pouring out of it. Like anything on the coast, it was a rust bucket. So he thought I might want it. I got it in 5, yes five, rubbermaid totes. Buckets o parts. They brought it to the Kawasaki dealer to fix the oil leak and the fella said it would be cheaper to buy a new one. So they did! "They" being the Wyath artist folks, he's a caretaker on one of their islands. So I rebuilt her and gave it back to him as a wedding present. She'd be a sweet trapping rig!

Depends what your doing. If your road trapping get a 50mpg VW jetta. Rip the back seat and passenger seat out and go to town. If your off road get a 4x4. If your hauling a huge boat up and down crappy boatramps in the middle of winter like me, I have a 3/4 ton diesel 4 door 4x4 long bed. Get about 19 mpg. I think a flatbed with locking side storage would be awesome.

Since I drive 28 miles to work and my wife drives 12, we've traded vehicles. She likes driving the truck now, but cringes when she sees wet coon and possums in the back and coyotes and skunks tied to the hood and/or roof of our PT Cruiser...... I spend alot of time keeping it fit for going to church or to the city to see her folks.

Well, 4-wheelers would deffiently be the trick IMO but thats out of the question for me, as it is illegal to run 4-wheelers on puplic roads/grounds.
Thanks for all the comments!

Me I drive a 89 Jeep Cherokee, 2 door, and this summer I picked up a old, well, 96 I think Suzy 4 wheel drive 4 wheeler, to be used as a step saver...... fat guys dont like to walk..... Got to pick up a little trailer to pull behind it. The Jeep is great, cause what I don't want wet, stays in it, and I don't leave stuff at home, because when I start trapping, it all gets put in and stays till the end of season.

Small car for good gas , small trailer with 4 wheeler behind I have an older ranger 4x4 that run in season on checks , it's lifted has 33" tires( little big) and gos great in the fields on ice and snow , it's light enough to not leave ruts ( wide oversized tires) and get ok gas mileage , but run a torus with trailer on long lines and such

any of you own a chevy s10, would it do good in snow? they sit prety low. A good set of tires and a little walking and even a 2 wheel drive will work. Sometimes a 4X4 can get you in trouble if you tear up a field when you should of walked a bit!

True on the 4x4 getting you in trouble ,farmers dont like ruts/tracks in fields ,crop farmers are a little differant than livestock farmers ,ones in the field and one is in the pasture running 2 wd until I slip than run 4wd to get out without any more damage will help alot ,and when I'm out on snow days do good until in the difts
it doesn't take a degree to know to stop and walk or stay out of the feild ,but when its froze soliod and harder than the road up to it than I give it a go but when setting new sets have to keep in mind that the warm will come on the worst day ,rain seems to do the same after a period of dry
a good update on the weather real helps to limit those should of pulled already days
