Copy & Paste Issues Following the v9.0 Update? *PLEASE READ THIS FIRST*
If you or your users are experiencing copy and paste issues following the AddonChat v9.0 update, the following applies to you:
How do I fix the issue?
Please try the following steps, one at a time in order until the problem is resolved
•Shut down all open instances of your web browser and restart. In 95% of cases, this step alone fixes the problem.
•Empty your Browser and Java Cache, and Reboot. This a secondary step we advise taking, especially when using previous generation operating systems and web browsers.
•Check that copy/paste is enabled in your AddonChat control panel. Look & Feel -> Layout & Features -> Main Chat Display -> Enable Copy Command in Right-Click Menu: Yes.
•Log-in to your AddonChat control panel and ensure that 'Use Digitally Signed Applet' is enabled. Re-copy and paste the link code to your web site. After doing this, be sure to restart your web browser before testing. If you're using AddonChat with an integration module and continue to experience this problem, please e-mail support@addonchat.com.
•If you're continuing to experience problems after reading this page, please reply here for community assistance or e-mail support@addonchat.com to speak with a technician.
I'm using Safari and I'm still having problems.
Use the digitally signed applet link code as indicated above- this fixes all Safari-specific issues related to copy/paste with v9. In a nutshell, Safari (and only Safari) is falling back to the link code we use to support older systems when using the unsigned link code. The chat applet functions fine, but some features (copy/paste, Java 6 detach) are limited.
What caused this to happen?
This is the result of running AddonChat v8.6 shortly before the recent upgrade to version 9.0. In most cases this is caused as a result of Java seeing an older (cached) copy of the AddonChat chat applet. Now is a great time to update your chat room link code and make use of the new Digitally Signed Applet.
Why the headache? Why was copy/paste changed in version 9?
Copy and paste worked fine in AddonChat v8.6 (the previous version) until a recent Java security update was released a few months ago. The new security update disabled copy/paste completely. At that point we diverted as much attention as possible to updating AddonChat's code base to accommodate the changes while maintaining backwards compatibility. AddonChat v9.0 contains the new code that enables copy/paste on the most recent versions of Java. If you're not running the latest version of Java, now is a good time to upgrade.
Any new updates will be added to this thread!!as of right now i am waiting for a reply back from Forrest to make sure copy and paste is turned on in the chat room, so bare with me all I'm working on this problem as we speak!
