I was wondering if guys could post some pics of fur they have put up. It doesn't matter if it is new or old, i think we could all learn a thing or two by looking at other people put up pics! I'm no expert, but am more than willing to show how i do it
These pics are from one of my first legitimate trapping seasons.
here in the pic is a few skunks, an otter (my first) and a badger.
This photo shows some nice MN november red fox.
Here are the coon i caught that same season as the other pics above.
Here are a more recent pic of todays put ups.
And a end of the season pic from last fall (I sold some coyotes and beaver before i took this pic)

Nice bunch of fur,I am throwing the most of my coyotes in the freezers I have,I have skinned va few but will tan them and sell cause they won't bring anything.I can tan for a $4.50 each here and sell for $85 always have done good doing that before!! I can tan 8 coyotes per bottle of Krow~tan and the bottle cost me $25 per quart plus postage,Larry
Have a bunch of freezers, cut legs off and get a bunch in all them, will skin someday, been busy with Taxidermy.Won't get to run my big line because of that, will pick up coon next week tho before they den up!! Larry
A few coon: Belly view: I will be doing most my coons legs like the one to the left that im holding into place. Had alot of trappers on the internet yell at me for doing them this way, but never NAFA or the country buyers. So i will take NAFA's word! I think it looks MUCH more uniformed.
Mink and a muskrat.
This is only my second year ever putting up fur. Tell me what you think..I am quite open for suggestions!
PS. the reds look pretty bad right now, IMO. They will look MUCH better the day or 3 before i ship them off. As that is when I preform my finishing touches to them!!
Those are some really nice looking reds you have got there lyonch!
Mini - the video is uploading right now on youtube. I wanted to redo my fleshing video because they turned out like crap, and I decided to do a put up video too, but for some reason that one is being a pain and doesn't want to upload.
Lets talk about your big ear coon! The reason you are getting big ear coon, is because you are cutting too close to where the hide meets the meat on the head. Instead of cutting at that line like on a lot of animals you could, make the cut about and inch further back on the head right through that big chunk of meat. On a coon, you don't want to really cur the cartlidge persay, but rather cut right where the ear hole meets the skull.
How about the inspection window? On a boar coon, feel free to cut that inspection window just above the penis. This will give you a nice smooth edge on your inspection window! I'm really going to try hard to upload that put up video! I even give a tip on making those coon that are a touch early but really close to prime a tiny bit whiter on the leather.
Here are some pics of my better looking red fox from this season. I had taken these for Larry to see in a PM and pick one out for a trade deal him and i made. So i thought i would share with you guys as well.

Cageycat and Lyonch, That is some great looking put up fur! You guys do some tremendous work. One question though, Can a guy use the nevada type stretch on coyotes and fox? Or will it just get downgraded or lose length and width? I like the look of coyote with the nevada stretch, just cant get them as wide as I think they need to be? Just learning here and I think I've got a long way to go, lol. Great work guys.
pappasmurf - yes you can use the nevada stretch if you like. A majority of the time the pelts are usually stretched wider than they need to be anyhow. i would take careful notes though on the rump area of the fox and coyotes, the fox especially. When you pull the back legs around to the belly side, you are typically weakening the fur density in the rump area. The main reason people do the nevada stretch on the cats, is because the money is in the belly of a cat. For fox, the money is in the back and not so much in the belly region. For coyotes it is a catch 22. The belly and backs are both used by the fur industry.
pappasmurf,I do my foxes the Nevada stretch just because I like the way they look as far as appearance for me.That is just my opinion . As far as downgraded , or losing length I have never noticed any difference to the bad, but I have never shipped my fur to an auction before. It is just the way I prefer to put them up and I think it gives a cleaner look on my foxes.
