Are any of you guys going to be buying some new stuff to add to your line this season??
I am going to be buying
1dz #110 dukes
6 duke DPs
6 1.5 dukes
some coon bait
and most likely a few other little odds and ends .. Its going to take some money to get the stuff to put up my own fur i hope i can get everything i need ! and i also hope that it pays itself off in a season or two!!
Gotta spend money to make money... you guys have to remember that trapping can be done for basically 3 reasons.... 1. "hobby trapper" (which is why most do it) and that amount of gear is not needed. 2. "Part Timer" (which is about the amount of gear discussed above) people in this category have regular jobs but also trap VERY hard to catch enough to have a fairly large fur check to help feed their familys, pay bills etc..... 3. "full timer". these people trap for a living and the gear discussed above is a fraction of what these guys use in a year. they are constantly replacing old gear and adding new gear.
Just becuase you see guys/gals out there putting in "massive orders" of gear doesnt mean you have to do the same in order to be a "good trapper" some of the best trappers out there can be categorized in the "hobby trapper". make the gear you have work efficently for you and you wont need to be rich to buy gear.... your traps will make you enough money to buy more traps.... Invest your fur check back into trapping.... do that for a few years and next thing you will see is that your fur checks are MORE then what you need to spend on gear that year... now its YOU putting in "MASSIVE ORDERS" LMAO!!!
I think i am ready for the season opener.... TC is sending me my trapping outfit.... I made some "fox step HERE" signs to put near my sets to help direct them where to go. and i have painted some traps pink...
I'm jealous of you guys and all the gear you fellas can run in your respective states....
me, im just turning out enough cable to run about a hundred snares continuous...
Do need to order a few more things...wouldnt mind another dozen or so 160s..I prefer them over the 110s ive been running...and was thinking of trying the belisles or the new bridger 159s...
Gotta pick up some fish oil from down the shore and maybe another 4oz of blackies blen shellfish oil..that was the strongest stuff I've smelled and only first sniffed it at the pa convention....I like.
