Here is a pic of where the fur tumbler is at in the building process at the moment. It will spin when not connected to the gear box very easily, but a little head scratching and preventative breaking has put me in the spot i am in right now. Tonight i will be adding structural support where needed to prevent some torquing issues. For those that are waiting for me to build mine first and to work some bugs out is a smart man. I haven't had to "redo" anything yet, but some torquing is happening where i didn't expect it to.

Oh boy Chris, that's gonna be a beauty man. I foresee some impressive furs coming out of that tumbler for sure. How many furs do you think you will be able to tumble at a time? Have you decided on the type of media you will run yet?

Lookin good! I hope your axles are heavy enough, the drum is sure wide looking. I thought the same thing, but when I talked with a blacksmith shop they thought it was more than enough because of my bearing placements. I am also adding a soft start to the motor next week.

What is the double-humped machine next to your garage door? Looks like smaller tumblers of some sort.

Redeagle - yes it is a double tumbler. Too small for me and the gearing system in the back is weak.

Well the tumbler is done finally! All said and done this tumbler cost me right at $1,000. When i get a chance to sit down with mike and transfer some pictures off of his phone i will post the process we did everything. Instead of a pulley system with belts and finally reducing down to a chain, i decided to use a 40:1 gear reduction box, and a soft start on the motor. All of the torquing issues are taken care of. I had 18 green beaver in the tumbler yesterday and it had no problems turning and spinning. I have come to the conclusion that wood shavings are not the way to go. They get in the fur and are hard to get out. Corn cob media comes right out when you shake it. Here are a couple pictures of the final product. D - all my gear is pulled at the moment. I am waiting for spring beaver to return and have a job interview today at 1. This might not be a high paying job, but there is a lot of potential to move up quickly, so it has really peaked my interest.

Thanks fellas!
D - its the same one. Ask any questions you may have fella. I will get that diagram on your pulley reductions when I get it calculated. I will stay up late if that's what it takes to get it to you today. Quick question, what is the biggest sprocket you can get that doesn't cost you a ton? 8" is about the biggest I can walk in and get at the local store.
