I have used a pick handle a lot. Gets pretty sporting with a back foot caught old aggressive male. Been times it should have been videoed.

I tried it once. Maybe I hit him in the wrong part of the throat. He puked all over everything, including himself. Terrible mess.

.22mag into the base of the skull angled forward or straight down between the ears. If its broadside .22mag right behind the shoulder blade, both lungs.. Im too old n slow for the rodeo. .22 Lr for smaller yotes. Same spot or straight down between the ears.

i wander how much of a goat rope that would be if it wasn't caught by a snare. How you would keep him from moving around too much on a foot catch. do you have and XP with a dispatch like that on a foot catch? any extra info would be great.

I use this method for coyotes and coon. Fastest and cleanest way hands down.
Duckie your comments should be kept to yourself when you are making an un-educated assumption.

complete disgrace and disrespect to the coyotes. And tell us all why that is! And share with us a better method, unless you were just flapping your uneducated lips in a way that made you look like a dumbass?

I tried this today on a nice fat coon. I was SHOCKED at how good this worked. I think I thumped it a wee bit too hard on the head, but then I gave it 2 good chops on the throat and it was stone still.
Anyone know how or why this works so well? Is it the damage to the blood vessels, or the crushing of the wind pipe or spinal column, or all of the above?
Now I know when my brother and I used to play ninjas, my mom would scream at us about hitting each other in the throat, "You could kill each other for cryin' out loud!"

Have to try that.I always put a catch pole around the throat, pull him tight away from trap and then stomp my heel on his heart.

"Throat blows or chops" are deadly to many animals and for the reasons mentioned depending on how much force is used. Ducky didnt think before posting. Im sure he'll be back with a new user name. I dont "thump" any bigger critters anymore, personal decision, im just too old lol, been there, done that. Having said that for decades i put K9's down with a hard blow on the bridge of the nose, out like a light, then a foot pressed down on the ribs, instant death die to the compression/destruction of the heart an lungs an 99% of the time the ribs fractured thru the heart and lungs, no blood. Its just easier an faster for me to use a firearm. Sometimes blood is an issue. Its all personal preference. All methods have pros and cons. I walked into some sets about Christmas time. Long walk in, had a yote. Ammo pouch was in the truck, long walk back.

I call them L-Ka-bong;;ers "Ax handle" for kicks between my son and I, used the bridge of the nose thing on all my foxes always, but I have to say this puts a faster humane way of looking at this.
My only questions is when that yote was up right, why you didn't you choose to wack him then, I don't think I have ever seen one get there lights put out so quick. Sure appreciate this post. Bob
