You know who you are and I need your thoughts on a question... When you have a yote working a set and he moves the "backing or blocking" to gain access from the side (keep in ,mind that he didnt trip your trap nor uncover it because you missed him once before when he did trip your trap), would you leave set as is? Then relure or bait and place a new trap where he put his "paw" close to the dirthole? THis would give you two working traps at one set. Thesongdog has showed enough interest in this set to come back but enter it from the side. Now with the 2nd trap in place, am I doing the right thing? I did add a cow bone to the set so he will stay intereasted... a little more background info: There are urine post sets and other sets in the area. This one particular set is useing a certain bait that they seem to be more into.... cdr

cdr use a larger backing would fix the problem and a couple placed stones to finish the set up

ms, if he is comeing in on the side, would the backing need any adjustment? Maybe the "side backing"...

Might not be a bad idea CDRRRR. I would think about a flat set on the backside of the backing.

Before you change anything study the tracks, the yote is seeing something.

Ms, trap is at a "y" in cowtrail by inside corner post. Two days ago, he came from north and circled to the front of set (hole faces south). He comitted and I missed (trap fired but no dog). Today, he came from west and entered set from west side by moving rocks and cow pie... He never tripped trap this time.

If he keeps coming back to mess with the set he is a dead yote walking.Block him off or back set with another trap.I'm no wolfer but that is what I do when I have that problem. This one liked to dig my remakes up from the back. He would dig right under the backing into the dirt hole.I sifted dirt around the set so I could see where he was standing then back set with another trap and picked him right up.Old boy.
