How do you keep you keep your traps fom freezing and stuff when bedded in snow, in freeze/thaw weather,
This winter has been wierd, last week it was -15 and now its 32 out side. so, should I break out my dry dirt, the hay and wax paper? or just not set trap.....
Thanks

First let me say I know very little to nothing about trapping in your region and I know the rules I follow here do not necessarily apply in Alaska. I know from reading other Alaskan posts that snow is very important to you guys in regards to trapping. I would try the things you mentioned and not worry if they don't pan out as snow will be right around the corner..

find an ant hill to sift the dirt onto the pan or a little sphagnum peatmoss under there together with the ant hill dirt.

we dont have ant hills here....they live in the trees. all the peatmoss is under 3 feet of snow on in top if all the swamps...in 3 feet of ice, well, now its overflow...
forrest, just about everything is legal, whatchya got?

not sure what type of trap your using but I have had good luck just placing a trap into a sandwich bag- gallon size or what have you if your using coils. simple as that don't zip it just place in and your ready to go-
