Thanks for sharing. On the boxes with 220's do you have decent luck with them? How big of box do you use, same as for a coon, say maybe 10" tall? 2 years ago I tried using all 220 boxes for cats for 3 weeks. Did not catch a single cat. Switched to leg holds in the exact same set locations I had my coniboxes at and picked up 3 cats in 10 days...then the season was over LOL. I have a friend that has had good success with the 220's in boxes but man it didn't work for me.
Last year I only trapped a few days, and all I did was set out one 5 gallon bucket with a turkey inside it and a 220 in the opening. That did snag a big tom for me though. I dug a hole into the ground a bit for the bottom edge of the bucket so it would be tilted up at roughly 45 degree angle. Maybe with the opening up higher that helped with getting the cat that time? Those coniboxes are low for a cat...Have another friend who has OK luck with cats using 220's in buckets, he makes stands that he bolts to the side of his buckets out of rebar about 8" long so that when he lays the bucket down those stands elevate it off the ground 8" and is closer to the actual head height of a cat...says it made a big difference for him.

I bet the 220 pans do help. I like the idea of the fake eyes added to the attractor...

thanks for the info... very good post, with some helpful tips to trappers new and old! X2 I use mostly footholds for cats and natural cubbys or brush but that's some good info and I'll try those tips next season. Curiosity got the cat looking into the bucket.

He means Bobcats in the lower 48 or Lynx if the trappers are in Canada. We do not wish to trap Domestic Cats. There may also be some areas where it is legal to trap moutain lions, I am not sure on that as they are very rare here on the Plains
