I dont remember for sure what year this was. In the early eighties sometime. Northwestern New York state. We killed 50 coon the first night. Hunted from dark till daylight. That old cur walker sure was a coon dog.

50 coon! Dang what a night. I go with friends a few times a year and may get a few a night. Mostly just drink coffee and listen to the hounds. If there is a few in the same tree we'll just pick one and tree the others another time. It's a real good time. Never made it out last year....

In my younger days I chased hounds through the brush all night. A good night might find a half dozen the truck. I can't imagine 50. Way cool and all kinds of respect towards you and your hound. As my dad always says the best hounds are always the ones now in the ground.

The population of coon in that part of New York at the time was unbelievable. We had a couple good years there. At that same time the red fox population was very good also. A lady owned that farm. She let us stay in that house. All she wanted in return was for us to shovel out the cow barn every other day. After hunting all night that was work.
