So pretty soon here I will be trapping coyote's for a farmer. I know a few obvious set's for them in the summer months but i'd like to have some new tricks up my sleeve. I normally trap them in winter. I am using Ram 1 Power Snares and #3 coil spring traps. If you use snares then post those sets too, I can just switch it off for a Ram. But to the best of my knowledge you can only use a Power Snare or Snare on their trails effectivly. But anyways if you have any sets please post them, pictures also welcomed!
Came here because I knew i'd get assistance in this matter. -Kyle (TheFurTrapper)

Coyote turds and gland lures can be very effective at any set this time of the year. Ma and Pa should be territorial yet. IMO, i would call the areas first and try to get the adults shot. The pups are quick clean up after that. Howls and pup distress sounds.

Grass gets tall yotes love to run the roads a lot more, snares in the side roads and urine posts off to the side of the main roads for me! IMO

ok in my area they respond more to urine post and rub post more then any set.i have had rejections from gland lures until i cut back on the amount of gland lure i used.remember this summer heat will boost the lure just like cold slows it down so use less at a set.
also remember this as well blend your urine and rub post in well.make it as natural as you can.

I should have been more clear on my post about the gland lure. Extremely small amounts is all it takes. One small drop or dab does the trick for me. I use urine at virtually every set no matter what time of the year it is. Just a plain turd with a shot of urine along a two track that is being traveled has been my most productive sets. I wish i could stay home for more than a couple days so i can get some steel set for the houndsmen. I live trap a few coyotes every summer for them so they can keep training the pups. I like it that we have a working relationship rather than a head butting one.

Very good looking set deadwolf. May I ask how deep you dig that hole below ground and how far back in.

The trench is about 18" long to about 6" to 8" deep to the start of the hole. The hole is about 5" to 6" dia X 8" deep. I set back 12" from hole. I put a small wad of grass to obstuct the view of the target animal. I do a little guiding around the trap.

"haircut set" or your basic flat or post set a little urine mabe a little lure an duse th eurine AS an attractant droppings get carried away here and holes fill in or bugs get lure its more effective for me to use urine come thru when i need to refresh after rainstorm etc as well as cheaper and quicker i have been told and now beleive urine collected from the animal and doen right is king
