Any one ever wax land traps after they are dyed by melting a layer of wax on top of water and dipping cold trap down through then letting heat up in water and pulling back up through the melted wax? I have never heard of this method and the guy I trap with days he used to do this and it works good but I am skeptical of it.

I have used water to clean the wax before of dirt and old dye and used water too in the mix if I was short on wax, just add the water before heating to avoid the and reaction in temp difference flair ups. I use pure wax when I can it's the best, but to clean dirty wax a little water separates it out well!

You can't get the wax hot enough doing it that way. The wax will be to thick and tend to flake off.
