I bought 4 #2 DLS the other day, haven't had a chance to use them yet. They feel really strong though.

Larry,
Newhouse were and still are one of the best traps ever made in my opinion. Their durability to stand the test of time has proven itself for 100+ years. I have some #4's that I set in secure areas for otter and front foot beaver occasionally. Top notch traps in my opinion....Sleepy Creek makes a nice Longspring now'a'days too

LPC or Livestock Protection Company of Alpine Tx still make traps off the newhouse patent. They have a web site and they are expensive, #4 without chain $80. LPC is owned by famous trapper and houndman Roy McBride.

Larry, I used a couple of no.3 newhouse traps for cats this yr. Also picked up a 41/2 in a trade I used for beaver.

I have 6 or 7 Newhouse #3's, most of them the springs aren't quite as strong as I would like to use on animals. I wish I could come across some #4's...
For those of you that use the Newhouse traps, do you use the stock pan that is hair triggered and no tension, or do you put on a PIT pan?

Thats the one thing I don't like, not being able to adjust pan tension. Any ideas?

Thats exactly how mine look. Thought the hair trigger and no pan tension might lead to a lot of toe catches or misses.

I may have to break a few out next year then.... Do you ever find them for sale anymore at conventions or the like? What does your average #3 or #4 Newhouse cost?

It has been a bit since i bought any. But I always see a few at conventions. The last #3 and #2 I picked up cost me around 15 each I think.

I use alot of Newhouse #3 and #4 dls, and a few #114. I love everyone of them. I'm from Minnesota myself and I noticed you mentioned 114. Can we still use traps with teeth? I haven't kept up with the rules and have a dozen #14 Victor Jumps that have never been used. Sounds like a good beaver trap on a pole? David

David Yes in Minnesota you can use toothed traps in water sets only. You jumps are fantastic beaver traps.
