In Novemeber I made a dirt hole set and a flat set about 18 ft. apart. I caught 2 red fox in the flat set over a period of a week and a half. Nothing touched the dirt hole set. I pulled my sets for 1 week of deer season and 2 weeks of water trapping. In December, I remade the sets the same way in the same spots using the same lure and urine. This time the dirt hole produced catches 4 out of the first 5 nights, nothing touched the flat set. I have an idea of why this would happen, but what do you guys think, what changed?

My guess would be that the flat set caught a curious fox early. Then my next guess is the dirt hole contained bait of some sort and by December just finding enough to eat is priority number one. So the set that offered a free meal was the ticket.

jt yep that's what I think. No big mystery, it just so happened that the dirt hole caught a fox first and the scent of that one attracted the others, more so than the flat set. Thanks for the reply.
