Hey guys i just got a kayak today (fusion 10) and i like it a lot i was wondering if anyone traps from a kayak, It isnt a sit on top and 9.5 feet long. Do you guys think that i would be able to carry a few traps and hopefully a beaver or 2 back to shore at a time easily with out to much hassle i got permission to trap a creek that floods a road its actually a nuisance job so ill be scouting a lot latelyi found their dam and a crossover but thats it any tips would be great. Sorry for all the questions first poster here =] ;D

IMO it will be tough trapping from a kayak!! if you do make sure your traps and gear are in a bucket or something that is sealed incase you end up upside down!!

i agree with mark another thought what happens if you catch a few otter, coon and beaver now how much room would you have?now on mink and rats it can be done if you use it for short distances but i feel a john boat or canoe would be better

use what yea got ,and like said seal bag/bucket to hold your gear ,and if its a wading line than it will work great ,if your riding you need to stage gear so you move more

I wouldnt use a kayak because of the minimal space. If I need some type of water transportation I like a canoe. But a johnboat can be used.

Maybe you could pull a small canoe/boat behind with your trapping gear in it but I would lash everything down in case you dump the works!!!! If you floated down stream it might work but wear a lifevest and be carefull!

I'd make one of those outrigger deals so the kayak can't tip over. I nave no idea what they are really called but they stick out the side and float if you tip that way or provide ballast if you tip the other.
I'd look for runs and make castor mounds were I beaver trapping this time of year. I used some food curiosity type lure this spring but don't know how well they would respond to it now that they aren't roaming and food is easy to get to.
