For a couple of years now, I have been using a Havalon knife for all my skinning. I no longer carry a pocket knife or any other knife. IMO, it is the best investment I have made in a knife in years. Never takes time sharpening, I just replace the blade. Blades are about $30 per 100 and extremely effective. Anyone else tried them??

The knife (comes with a few blades) is about $35 and as I mentioned, the blades are $30 per hundred. That might seem a little pricey, but if you are skinning a good amount of fur or other game over a year, it saves me a lot of time in sharpening a knife. I have been using mine for nearly two years and have not used up 1/2 box of blades and I skin a lot year round. I showed mine to a vet who then asked me to order him one for autopsies. The blades are actually a very large scapel blade and change out in a matter of a second or two. But BEWARE, they cut quick and deep. It doesn't hurt for a few seconds I didn't even know I had cut myself. LOL
