Pin (clothes pin) the middle one so the nose is at the tip as they measure from the base at the side to the nose! Get the fat off the arm its on the one on the left to were no fat is under the red skin then stop! Get the thin layers of fat and meat off the hide all over so its smooth looking! Rats leg holes should be even on the stretchers (Legs holes even see 3rd one)

Those clothes pins work good holding the skirt down and even too. A bit of scraping with a spoon and just wait for payday!

Lawdog and Big hit the nail on the head. Get all fat off that you can. The tricky part can be when they have a light layer of fat that is laying on top of the saddle. This is where you want to leave the saddle on, but take the fat off. Really light fleshing will accomplish that. You definitely want to pull the skirts down as far as you can to the base of the stretcher and put a clothes pin on the hide at the very base. This will help hold the pelt down when it drys. This can at times get you a size bigger than by not pinning. It only takes two days for a muskrat pelt to dry on a wood stretcher, so you want to fix any mistakes right away!!
