Drill a hole in your stump about a foot deep but NOT all the way through to the roots. Pour water inside the hole and when it freezes and thaws out the water will split the stump like you have never seen before. The more holes you drill and fill, the quicker the stump will fall apart. when the stump is gone, do the tree roots the same way. Let nature do your "dirty work" and don't work your self to death.
